INLLEN is committed to developing networks across the Darebin, Moreland and Yarra councils that develop an all of community response to improving outcomes for young people.
What is a Youth Commitment? A Youth Commitment is a network of local schools, industry, education and community providers committed to improving access and opportunity for all young people living in the local area.
Key Goals
To support young people 10 to 19 years of age
To support students effective transition from primary to secondary school and engage in learning
To support students to complete Year 12 or its equivalent Certificate II qualification
To support young people to obtain a full-time job that is linked to further education or training
What does a Youth Commitment do?
A Youth Commitment is a preventative strategy centered around the learning and work circumstances of young people. It provides a clear initial focus of energy, a common framework for action and a collective means of developing the life skills and active citizenship over time of each young person in local communities." Dr John Spierings, Dusseldorp Skills Forum''.
INLLEN is working with key stakeholders to develop a Youth Commitment Network in each of the local government areas in our region.
This new network was established in May 2010 following the Moreland Education Forum, which brought together schools and community service providers to discuss the issues in Moreland.
The Moreland Youth Commitment Network meets 5 times per year and works in a strategic manner to improve education, training and employment outcomes for young people. For further information contact Partnership Broker, Silvana De Pretto on email:
