Real Industry Job Interviews is a curriculum program designed to give students experience in preparing and experiencing a ‘real’ interview situation. This program is strongly supported by our local business and the community. The program draws on valuable recruitment skills and expertise of managers who participate because they are enthusiastic about helping young people prepare for the world of work.
Real Industry Job Interviews is suitable for the following group/s: Year 10 and 11/ VCAL
Description
Student in this program will develop a current resume and learn to write a cover letter for an entry level job position. They will also learn and begin to develop interview skill and techniques. The finale of this program is students are invited to attend an interview situation set in a realistic environment and by local business and community leaders.
Real Industry Job Interview (RIJI) Program is a great partnership initiative that has the support of local schools, Work Readiness Providers that work in Darebin, Moreland and Yarra and the wider business community.
INLLEN together with the support of Work Readiness Providers facilitated a ‘Going for a Job’ Teacher Training Session at Northcote Town Hall on Tuesday 24th April and launched the ‘new look’ Real Industry Job Interview (RIJI) Teacher Resource which will be available on our website soon.
Teachers highly valued the information presented and evaluations were extremely positive. Feedback suggested that they are now better equipped to develop job readiness skills in their students and work with the Resource.
A big thank you to Breakthru Solutions who allocated time for Julie Sanders (Breakthru Employment Consultant) to engage with teachers and run the Session. Julie’s experience and expertise was highly praised.
Thank you also to the RIJI Steering Committee partners: Breakthru Solutions, Wesley Employment Services, Workskil, Sarina Russo and City of Darebin.
