Koorie Parent and Community Engagement (KPaCE) Program
The Koorie Parent and Community Engagement (KPaCE) Program commenced early in 2010. It is a DEEWR funded twelve-month pilot project and is auspiced by VAEAI.
Aim
KPaCE program aims to enhance the capacity of Koorie families and communities to engage positively with the school system to improve educational outcomes for their children.
Key Objectives
- Develop 5 school-community partnerships; 4 in regional areas – Ballarat, Shepparton, Bairnsdale and Swan Hill and one in the north west i.e. Reservoir High
- Develop community education handbooks in each site.
- Run School and Parent Community Forums across all sites
- Conduct parent workshops in each of the regions that are community driven issues
- Engage schools and key stakeholders through statewide and local reference group meetings at each site
KPaCE Project moving forward in 2012
- Resources be available to other school communities
- Make the project successful so that it can branch out to other schools and their communities
- The forum consultation model be replicated in other school community networks
