The Moreland Youth Commitment Community Banner is now on display at the Coburg Civic Centre main reception area! The Banner was officially launched at the Spirit of Cooperation Signing Ceremony held last March and is filled with signatories from all key stakeholder groups that work with young people in Moreland.

At our 20th February MYC meeting the Mayor of Moreland, Cr. John Kavanagh, was photographed with members of the Network in front of the Banner.

All are welcome to attend our Moreland Youth Commitment meetings.

Reflecting back on the year’s highlights…… we can be proud of the following wonderful achievements of MYC:

  • A Strategic Action Plan endorsed by Council, schools and community members
  • A moving Spirit of Cooperation Signing Ceremony held in March where
    • Moreland Youth Commitment was launched with a brand new logo
    • 9 Industry Ambassadors were awarded for their contribution to young people in Moreland
    • MYC Canvas signed whereby participants made a signatory pledge to improve outcomes for local young people.  This Canvas will be framed and displayed in the Reception area at Coburg Civic Centre.
  • Moreland Under 16 Project – funded by Youth Connections.  The Report is now finalised with 4 key recommendations to be implemented in 2012.
  • Year 10 Pre-cal is now running at John Fawkner SC with support from local community providers
  • Streamlining transition processes with primary and secondary school teachers and Principals
  • Moreland Networking Bus Tour held in June
  • A hugely successful Parent & Family Engagement Forum held in August
  • Local buy in from Moreland business and schools at the Business School Roundtable Breakfast at Coburg Civic Centre
  • 150 Moreland students participated in the Real Industry Job Interview program at Coburg Civic Centre from 6 school.
